Students from the Academic Bridge Program (ABP) may be required to complete the IBT TOEFL and/or the IELTS, the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and/or ACT (American College Testing) during the academic year. Qatar Foundation is an official test site center for the SAT, ACT and the IBT TOEFL. The IELTS test is officially run by the British Council in Qatar. Students are given assistance at the ABP in preparing and registering for these tests. Students are responsible for paying the registration fees for these tests, though some sponsors may provide funding for these tests.
Information about standardized tests is available from the ABP Admissions and Records Office.
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) offers Mini Courses to prepare students for SAT, ACT, TOEFL and IELTS exams. These courses are offered for a small fee ranging from QR 300-500. The Mini Courses take place two days a week after class hours. The duration of the courses is 4-6 weeks. English teachers usually teach the IELTS and TOEFL content, while math teachers cover the SAT/ACT math content. The Mini Courses are usually offered during the first semester.
In addition to the Mini Courses, students are encouraged to come to the LRC to prepare for the SAT/ACT/IELTS exams with tutors. To further assist students with test preparation, the ABP offers students range of resources including sample tests, study guides, and test preparation software.
