Dr. Hareb Al-Jabri

Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Higher Education

Dr. Hareb Al-Jabri obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Qatar University in 2003, then joined Qatar University as a faculty member in Biological and Environmental Sciences Department in 2004. He continued his graduate studies and obtained a master’s degree in biochemistry from Virginia Tech University in 2010, then PhD in Bioprocess Engineering from  Nantes University in 2018. At the same year, Dr Hareb received an international award (Personnel of Future Leaders) from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Union. Dr. Hareb has leaded several scientific research teams in the fields of biotechnology, environmental studies and food security, and has published many scientific research paper in international per-reviewed journals. Dr. Hareb was appointed to different administrative positions at Qatar university:

Associate Director Technology transfer and commercialization 2021-2023

 Manager of innovation and IP  2020-2012

Director of Center for Sustainable Development 2017-2019

Founder and Manger of Algae Technologies Research Program 2014-2019

Biofuel Project Manager 2011-2014


He also has held many positions outside the university through his secondment to several governmental agencies, including the Ministry of Culture and Sports as executive director of the Qatari Scientific Club and then director of  Public Libraries department, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry as founder and general manager of the Islamic Centre for Halal Products Accreditation at the level of the Islamic World Organization, and the Ministry of Municipality an Environment as a consultant on agricultural research and biotechnology  and Director of scholarship department at Ministry of education and higher education recently Acting Assistant Undersecretary For Higher Education Affairs

He also participated in several national committees, the most important are the Food Security Committee and the Climate Change Committee.

Prof. Safwan Masri

Dean, Georgetown University Qatar

Safwan M. Masri, Ph.D., is the Dean of Georgetown University in Qatar and a Distinguished Professor of the Practice at Georgetown’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Before joining Georgetown in October 2022, Professor Masri served as Executive Vice President for Global Centers and Global Development at Columbia University and was a Senior Research Scholar at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. Before that, he held the position of Vice Dean and Professor at Columbia Business School, and previously taught engineering at Stanford University. He was also a visiting professor at INSEAD (Institut Européen d’ Administration des Affaires). Dean Masri is the author of Tunisia: An Arab Anomaly (Columbia University Press, 2017). He is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations and an honorary fellow of the Foreign Policy Association. He is the founding chairman of King’s Academy and Queen Rania T eacher Academy in Jordan. Currently, he serves as a trustee of International College in Beirut, a director of AMIDEAST and of Endeavor Jordan, and Chair of the Lusail Museum Research Institute Advisory Committee. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford University.

Prof. Marwan Kraidy

Dean, Northwestern University Qatar

Marwan M. Kraidy is Dean and CEO of Northwestern University in Qatar, where he recently founded the Institute for Advanced Study in the Global South, and the Anthony Shadid Chair in Global Media, Politics and Culture at Northwestern University. A Fellow of the International Communication Association, he was the Founding Director of the Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication (2013-2020) and Associate Dean for Administration at the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania. The recipient of Andrew Carnegie, Guggenheim, NEH, ACLS, Woodrow Wilson and NIAS fellowships, Kraidy has published 130+ essays and 13 books, notably Hybridity, or the Cultural Logic of Globalization (Temple UP, 2005), Reality Television and Arab Politics (Cambridge UP, 2010), which won three leading prizes, and The Naked Blogger of Cairo: Creative Insurgency in the Arab World (Harvard UP 2016), which won three major awards. His current projects focus on digital sovereignty and the elemental politics of extremism, the geopolitics of Turkish television drama, the aesthetics and politics of music videos, the evolution of political graffiti in the digital era, and the rise of a digital-native news sphere in the Arab world. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Council of Learned Societies in New York, the International Advisory Board of the Center for American Studies and Research at the American University of Beirut, and the Board of Advisors of the Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. Prof. Michael Trick

Dean and Chief Academic Officer, Carnegie Mellon University – Qatar

Michael Trick is the dean and chief academic officer of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. Appointed in 2017, Dr. Trick has led the campus through a period of significant growth and development. Under his leadership, CMU-Q has expanded its student population, application numbers, research activity, course offerings, and launched the first Bachelor of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence in Qatar.

Dr. Trick joined the Carnegie Mellon faculty in 1989 after earning his Ph.D. in industrial engineering at Georgia Tech. A distinguished researcher and educator in the field of operations research, he holds the Harry B. and James H. Higgins Professor of Operations Research chair, an appointment he received in 2012.

Dr. Trick is a prominent figure in the international operations research community. He is a fellow of both INFORMS and IFORS, and served as president of both organizations. He has authored more than fifty professional publications, edited six volumes of refereed articles, and consulted extensively with organizations such as the United States Postal Service, Major League Baseball, and various college basketball conferences.

Mr. Amir Berbić

Dean, Virginia Commonwealth University – Qatar

Board Member

Amir Berbić is a graphic designer who works on questions surrounding identities of place. He collaborates on projects with cultural organizations, arts institutions, and publishers, with commissions that range from print design to three-dimensional typography to environmental graphics.

Prior to becoming Dean of VCUarts in Qatar in 2019, he was a tenured Professor and Chair of Graphic Design at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), where he also served as Associate Dean at the UIC College of Architecture, Design and the Arts, and as Acting Director of the UIC School of Design. Berbić was on the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) Chicago Board of Directors, serving as Vice President and Co-Chair of Education from 2015–2018. From 2004 to 2014, he was a faculty member at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.

Born in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Berbić moved to Chicago in the 1990s, where he completed his design education and began a career in editorial design and publishing. He holds a BFA in Graphic Design from UIC, and an MFA in Visual Communication from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

His works have featured in numerous academic and professional publications, conferences, and exhibitions, including Design Issues, Visual Communication, Print, Graphis, Wallpaper, the AIGA Design Educators Conference, TypeCon, the Society of Typographic Arts, ICOGRADA, the World Design Summit, and Salone del Mobile in Milan. His work is included in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Prof. Ala Al Fuqaha

Associate Provost for Teaching and Learning, Hamad Bin Khalifa University

Prof. Ala Al-Fuqaha is the Associate Provost for Teaching and Learning at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). He is a professor at the College of Science and Engineering, HBKU. Before HBKU, he was Professor and director of the NEST research lab at the Computer Science Department of Western Michigan University (WMU). Prof. Al-Fuqaha played a key role in the design and development of the intelligent network management system for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed (DWDM) optical networks that was deployed in the Washington DC metropolitan area as part of the first all-optical network in the world. He is a senior member of the IEEE, a senior member of the ACM, and an ABET Program Evaluator (PEV) and commissioner. He served on editorial boards of multiple journals, including IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Network Magazine, and Springer AJSE. He also served as chair, co-chair, and technical program committee member of multiple international conferences, including IEEE VTC, IEEE Globecom, IEEE ICC, and IWCMC.

Captain Khalid Eissa Al-Hamadi

Senior Vice President – Flight Operations, Qatar Airways

Captain Khalid Issa Al-Hamadi is a seasoned aviation leader with more than 15 years of experience in commercial aviation and executive flight operations management. He currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Flight Operations at Qatar Airways, where he oversees global flight operations, regulatory compliance, safety management, and crew training across one of the world’s most modern and diverse fleets.

A certified Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) holder and Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) on the Boeing 787, Captain Al-Hamadi has led major initiatives in flight standards, fatigue risk management, and fleet efficiency optimization. His strategic oversight ensures operational excellence and alignment with international aviation authorities including QCAA, ICAO, FAA, and EASA.

In addition to his aviation leadership, Captain Al-Hamadi plays a significant role in Qatar’s broader educational and sporting sectors. He is a Member of the Board of Trustees at the Academic Bridge Program (ABP), Qatar Foundation, contributing to strategic governance and partnerships that strengthen university readiness and student success. He also serves as an Advisory Council Member at Lusail University’s College of Commerce and Business, helping align academic programs with industry needs.

He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Massey University, New Zealand, specializing in air crash investigation and airline decision-making, and a Higher Diploma in Aviation from Qatar Aeronautical College in partnership with Nakhon Phanom University, Thailand.

Mr. Moatasim Nuri

Vice President, Operations – PUE

Moatasim Nuri is an experienced strategist with more than 30 years of experience in future trends analysis, transformational leadership, operational advancement, and change management. He is currently serving QF’s Pre-University Education (PUE) division as the Vice President, Operations as well as the Executive Director, Strategy, Research & Governance. He started his career in economic and political analysis before transitioning to management consulting, where he provided professional advisory services to more than 35 organizations in various sectors including education, research, government, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and telecom in 14 countries across 3 continents. He possesses a master’s degree in business administration, another in public policy analysis, and a third in public administration

Dr. Saheim K. Al-Temimi

Director, Academic Bridge Program

ABP Director and Board Member

Dr. Saheim has extensive experience in higher education, academic affairs, continuing and professional education, along with distinguished experience in the oil and gas sector spanning more than 18 years. He currently serves as the Director of the Academic Bridge, a member of Qatar Foundation.

Additionally, Dr. Saheim held the positions of Director of the Continuing and Professional Education Directorate, Director of Marketing and Public Relations Directorate, and Assistant Professor at Doha University for Science and Technology. In addition, he has held senior leadership roles at Qatar Energy since 2007.

His broad expertise includes but not limited to, academic affairs, continuing and professional education, strategic management, sustainability, strategic development, stakeholder management, as well as commercial and marketing domains.

Dr. Saheim was recognized among the top ten students nationwide in Qatar in the General Secondary Education Certificate. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Liverpool and a Doctorate Degree from Qatar University, where his doctoral research focused on strategic management and sustainability.
