Science Language and Skills 1 is designed for the Foundation level student. It explores the general principles of science using English-language terminology. Emphasis is placed on the development of English language terminology, development of proficiency in laboratory skills, and the development of a more independent learning style for students. Of particular importance is the integration of English vocabulary with an investigative, hands-on style of learning. Reading and writing skills and concepts play particular importance in the daily activities.

Science Language & Skills 2 is designed for the Foundation level student as a continuation of Science Language and Skills 1. The course explores the general principles of science using English-language terminology. Emphasis is placed on the further development of English language terminology, greater proficiency in laboratory skills, and the continued development of a more independent learning style for students.

Integrated Science 1
Integrated Science 1 provides an integrated classroom and laboratory experience that is designed for Academic level students who are interested in majors other than science at university. The course focuses on the physical sciences. Topics include: the scientific method, atomic structure, chemical bonding, motion and momentum. Emphasis is placed on developing vocabulary acquisition, reading skills, critical thinking skills, and methods of scientific investigation.

Integrated Science 2
Integrated Science 2 provides an integrated classroom and laboratory experience that is designed for Academic level students who are interested in majors other than science at university. The course builds on the scientific principles explored in Integrated Science 1. The course focuses on the biological sciences. Topics include: biomes, causes and management of pollution, diet and health and principles of genetics. Emphasis is placed on developing vocabulary acquisition, reading skills, critical thinking skills, and methods of scientific investigation.

Biology
Biology provides an integrated classroom and laboratory experience that is designed for Academic level students who are interested in a science major at university. Topics in the biological sciences explored include: typical cell structures in prokaryote and eukaryotes and their relationship to cellular function, the principles and applications of microscopy, the structure of organic compounds and their correlation with function, enzyme activity and its regulation in living organisms and biotechnology, and the basic principles of heredity and human genetics. Emphasis is placed on developing vocabulary acquisition, reading skills, critical thinking skills, and methods of scientific investigation. The course brings about competency in methods of scientific investigation and a greater ability to analyze, evaluate, synthesize and present scientific knowledge.

Chemistry
Chemistry provides an integrated classroom and laboratory experience that is designed for Academic level students who are interested in a science major at university. The course explores the basic properties of the nature and reactions of matter. The course focuses on the physical sciences with particular attention to the properties of matter, atomic structure, chemical bonding and stoichiometry. Emphasis is placed on developing vocabulary acquisition, reading skills, critical thinking skills, and methods of scientific investigation. The course brings about competency in methods of scientific investigation and a greater ability to analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and present scientific knowledge.

Physics I
Physics I provides an introduction to college physics for Academic level students. The goals of the course are to acquaint students with the major subfields of physics and to help them gain a sufficient knowledge to understand applications of physics in their major field, to acquire a basis for more advanced study of physics concepts needed in their major field, to advance their problem solving skills, and to develop skills in making elementary laboratory measurements, especially electrical ones. The necessary mathematical prerequisites for this course include basic algebra and some trigonometry. The emphasis of this course is placed on understanding vectors and motion in one and two dimensions and Newton’s laws. Fundamental principles, force, together with their applications to daily life are also covered, with particular attention to the language of physics. The language studied is not only the spoken and written language of the theories, laws and principles of science, but also the language of inquiry used in the laboratory for problem solving and scientific reasoning.
